Every time I think Loot has lost me, it finds a way to pull me back in. However, this season takes much too long to abandon the riskily cringy comedic bits for its abundance of character strengths. When it does finally settle in, those strengths are powerfully endearing: Ron Funches’ sincere hilarity with literally every word mixed with Nat Faxon’s wholesome foil to Maya Rudolph’s outlandishness, not to mention MJ Rodriguez’s stoicism and Joel Kim Booster’s cattiness as the cherries on top of the lovable dynamic. Season Three has a rough start, but once we get back to an actual story, you’re reminded why Loot should stick around.
