This miniseries has a stacked cast led by Bryan Cranston and Michael Stuhlbarg, both of whom keep everything moving at a nice clip and generally watchable. Sadly, the story isn't as strong as the performances. Even most of the supporting players, including television heavyweights Margo Martindale and Maura Tierney in thankless roles, do good work. However, certain subplots are entirely unnecessary and several character decisions are eye-rollingly bad, especially Adam's (Hunter Doohan). Lastly, its overall inability to create any real tension leads to a mostly bland affair. The acting, particularly Cranston, makes it a serviceable distraction, but nothing more.
