The early episodes of X-Men ‘97‘s second season certainly ratchet up the epicness. The animation looks unreal, and the action set pieces highlighting our favorite heroes' superpowers will stop you in your tracks. It still sends chills down my spine to hear the voice actors of my childhood making heavy proclamations and witty remarks, but the story in which they return has way too much to explain for four 30-minute capsules. Having the team separated into multiple timelines rushes the big reveals, lessening their ultimate impact. However, when the story is allowed room to breathe, my excitement for what's to come matched the grand stakes it's shooting for.
