I cannot believe that Those About to Die cost $140 million because it looks chintzy as hell — just laughably bad CGI and green screening. Plus, a glorified cameo from Anthony Hopkins aside, there are no stars amongst the sprawling cast, unless you count Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones). So, where did all that money go? It didn’t go into the script, which is flat and unengaging. The set design and costumes are okay, I suppose…but not $140-million-okay. Was this series a money laundering scheme for Peacock? Anyway, this Thrones rip-off will probably live up to its title by not seeing a second season.
