Given that The Sticky is about the great Canadian maple syrup heist, the not-at-all-serious, “look at these bumbling idiots” tone makes a lot of sense. It’s not unlike The Coen Brothers’ The Ladykillers in that way, for better or worse. However, even at six, half-hour episodes, there just isn’t enough story, character development, or outright quirkiness to make it anything more than a half-hearted distraction. Also, it all just feels too cheap and slight (or too Canadian?) despite Jamie Lee Curtis (also a producer) showing up in a bit role to inject some recognizable clout. Props to all the French covers of American rock classics, though.
