NICK

When you burst onto the scene with a nearly perfect first season, the follow-up is bound to face scrutiny. Yet, somehow, The Pitt largely avoids this. Season Two of the medical drama offers a less chaotic day as it focuses more on the scars of the doctors than the patients. Once again, the performances are top notch across the board (Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa, in particular) as the season tackles prevalent issues such as ICE, AI, adult depression, and the toll the job takes on the modern-day healthcare worker. A lacklustre finale is the only thing that bumped my rating down a touch.

AMARÚ

I binge watched The Pitt: Season One before watching Season Two in real time, and the back-to-back viewing greatly enhanced the second season’s improvements. This series is an anomaly, as it is the calmest-looking, pressure-cooking hour on television. While last season played more like singular capsule episodes, this season is much more cohesive. The characters you fell in love with gain more depth, the tension you feel spans multiple episodes, and it’s all bolstered by interesting new doctors, intense life-or-death messaging, and patients ranging from hilarious to heartbreaking. I'm so happy I finally caught the Pitt train.
