In 2023, The Last Thing He Told Me was a nice surprise. In 2026, it's an unnecessary follow-up that becomes much more convoluted than it needs to be. The budding mother/daughter dynamic of Hannah (Jennifer Garner) and Bailey (Angourie Rice), which was so pivotal to Season One, has devolved into something much less interesting, especially with the return of Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). New additions Judy Greer, John Noble, and Luke Kirby try to justify this continuation but they don’t stop Season Two from being a big step down. It leaves an opening for future seasons, but this should be the last.
