Though overstuffed and a tad convoluted, Netflix’s The Beast in Me is an extremely bingeable thriller that thrives on the cat-and-mouse interplay between Aggie (Claire Danes, leaning fully into her patented “cry face”) and Nile (a charmingly slimy Matthew Rhys). It can, admittedly, get a little silly, but the tension and cliffhangers play into the basest appetites of murder mystery fans. One can’t help to click “play next episode” to get much needed answers about the latest reveal. It’s not exactly prestige television, of course, but it remains entertaining as a slightly more upscale version of a Harlan Coben miniseries.
