NICK

It took a bit to find its footing, but Ted Lasso: Season Four reinvigorates the series. Having Ted (Jason Sudeikis) back on my screen was obviously a welcome return, and he's used perfectly to integrate the new cast members without overshadowing them. As the series went on, I became more invested in the new players and by the conclusion of this season, I was just as invested in their stories going forward as the original cast. There's still some growing pains with fleshing out the new characters fully, but somehow Ted Lasso has managed to offer a fourth season stronger than its third.

AMARÚ

Ted Lasso had me going there in the first half of its new season premiere, I’m not gonna lie; I worried it was trying too hard to get me laughing again. But then it quickly reminded me that its heart is the reason I laughed in the first place. This season packs punches of genuine emotion and levity from the returning cast, with a few new additions (especially Tanya Reynolds) adding refreshing layers to their stories. In a time when belief is hard to come by, it’s a deep sigh of joyful relief to be back in Nelson Road Stadium.

QUENTIN

I was skeptical about Ted Lasso’s return because, to be perfectly honest, bringing Jason Sudeikis back felt like a money grab. After the premiere, I felt validated because it’s firmly in try-too-hard territory; however, the season mostly settles in by the end of the second episode, bringing back all the same vibes as before. The story isn’t quite as cohesive — with the collective Lady Greyhounds being more of a character than the individual players, and the writers being lost with what to do with Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) — but Lasso remains a warm blanket for these dark times, even if a certain spark is missing.

ADELAIDE

After three long years, Ted Lasso has returned to our screens. In its absence, it felt like Apple wanted to make up for an underwhelming series finale, and Season Four picks up the ball in stride. The returning cast are all fantastic, just as expected, and you grow to love the new women’s team as well. Aside from the standout Alice Chilton, played by Tanya Reynolds, all of the players round out a fantastic ensemble that, while a little underbaked for now, promises exponential returns in the coming seasons.
