Considering that Super Pumped and Billions were created by the same people, the shared DNA between the two shows makes sense. Despite being the true story of Uber, it has the same high-octane, bro-energy and ridiculously underhanded schemes that the fictional Billions does. In a way, being true makes it more fascinating; However, it also incites more incredulity in the viewer because you’re left in awe at the mere audacity of it all. Sometimes, it feels like it goes a little overboard with its commentary on the entitlement of billionaire disruptors; then again, maybe it’s true to life. I’m not sure which is worse.
