For whatever reason, this season of Love Life just isn’t as charming as the previous one. Admittedly, the first season may have been a case of “right place, right time” since it was released during lockdown (and, to be fair, I can’t resist Anna Kendrick), but this go-round feels more trite. It’s certainly watchable, especially for rom-com diehards, and HBO Max’s bulk episode drops make it easy to binge. However, I didn’t get much out of it this time. The transition to William Jackson Harper as the lead works, but the show lost a spark somewhere along the way.
