A modern world still beholden to the Greek Gods is a tremendous idea that could be used to explore religion, faith, fate, corruption, power, and more. Maybe it gets there eventually, but Kaos’ first season, despite having its moments (particularly when it comes to world-building), is bogged down by too much exposition, too many characters, and not enough Jeff Goldblum. As far as tone, it’s all over the place too, blending Preacher, American Gods, and Good Omens, but the tragic parts are never as heavy as they should be, while the funny parts never elicit as many laughs as intended. Overall, a great idea poorly done.
