Though not near as good as the flagship series (I mean, how could it be?), Justified: City Primeval brings enough of the original's charm and grit to still be a worthwhile sequel miniseries. Timothy Olyphant slides back into the cowboy hat easily, if maybe a tad angrier than before, while Boyd Holbrook makes for a worthy and menacing adversary. The story, though, is held back by some generally uninteresting subplots, a smidge of convolution, and convenient contrivances. Still, it’s a worthy watch for fans of the original and new fans alike, and if the teased follow-up season comes to fruition, color me excited.
