Over the course of its four seasons, Jack Ryan has been a good-but-not-great show. That said, this season - its final season - might be its best overall. I fully admit there could be some recency bias at play, but the fewer episodes allow for a more focused story and sustained narrative momentum. It’s also further evidence that Michael Peña is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood, and that Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are among the most underused. All in all, it’s a fitting end to a series that knew exactly what it was: an entertaining, more action-packed, less weighty version of Homeland.
