Ironheart feels like being back home, comfortably walking into an old neighborhood I haven’t visited in years. Led by a magnificent Dominique Thorne, the authentically heartfelt ensemble (especially surprise stand-out Lyric Ross) takes well-tread coming-of-age, crime drama tropes and gives them a refreshing energy that feeds your soul. Every time you think clunky plot points will dampen the light, another earnest interaction filled with heartbreak, joy, humor, and all of the above takes the story to surprisingly emotional places. Add in a pitch-perfectly cool Anthony Ramos, and an outstanding soundtrack, and I finished this six-episode season wanting to take a plate with me.
