AMARÚ

The first six episodes of Invincible: Season Three is a much more cohesive story than we’ve gotten in previous seasons, and it makes for an incredibly interesting and contemplative story surrounding the consequences, both internally and externally, of Invincible’s (Steven Yeun) actions. It also showcases just how expansive creator Robert Kirkman’s comic-book world really is. Weirdly, in past seasons, I enjoyed the disjointed detours to the vastly numerous side characters, but the newly intertwined stories felt less exciting this time around. They aren’t bad, but it took pretty long to feel fully invested. Luckily, I did leave intrigued on how this season will end.

KATIE

The first six episodes of Invincible: Season Three are some of the darkest of the entire show. Mark (Steven Yeun) is challenged in new ways, forcing him to reconcile with what it means to be a hero and the increasingly complex consequences of his actions. I found that the first two seasons neglected the more human elements of Mark’s life, but this time feels very well balanced. A couple of subplots initially struggled to maintain my interest, but even they eventually won me over. I was left on the edge of my seat, and I can't wait to see the next episodes.

PAIGE

With its bloody fights, nuanced character development, and weighty themes, Invincible's third season has many great aspects, yet whatever made the first two seasons so remarkable seems to be absent. Perhaps it's that it introduces new characters rather than focusing on the existing ones we already want more of, or that it focuses on smaller subplots rather than expanding on the bigger story arcs that are at hand - I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that I enjoy delving into the personal and external conflicts that our main character Mark (Steven Yeun) faces, but nothing in these first six episodes feels particularly significant.
