While I love the retro-future design of Hello Tomorrow!, which looks like live-action The Jetsons, the story is far more pedestrian. It’s ultimately about achieving “The Dream” and (maybe unattainable) happiness, which means something different for each character; however, other than Jack (Billy Crudup), you don’t care enough about these underdeveloped characters to root for them. Also, there is a small mystery element baked into the narrative, but the twists are so telegraphed that you mostly shrug as that aspect plays out. The always underrated Crudup is great, but this is a tale of style over substance that doesn’t entice enough for a second season.
