At its most basic, Furious is a story rooted in the old parable about the two wolves that live inside us, mixed with the idea that “hurt people hurt people.” The result is a bleak series that is like Killing Eve in narrative, but True Detective in tone. It’s the rare show that puts justifiable feminine rage front and center, through both the hero (Emmy Rossum) and villain (Lola Petticrew). At times, the darkness threatens to overwhelm the story and the characters — making for a somewhat merciless watch — but Furious remains compelling and increasingly relevant throughout its eight episodes.
