I get why Steven Soderbergh is one of those directors that always gets the benefit of the doubt, but the truth is, I haven’t fully enjoyed anything he has made since 2018’s Logan Lucky, a stretch of seven movies and one series. With his latest series, Full Circle, the streak stays alive. The ensemble cast does good work, but with three semi-connected but disparate storylines and a sprawling set of characters, it gets confusing real quick while also lacking a compelling narrative. Plus, the direction is lifeless, and the tone is bone dry - a wild thing to say about the man who directed Ocean’s Eleven.
