In the world of moody crime dramas from across the pond, Dept. Q is a decent enough watch even if it’s not reinventing the wheel. With its ragtag group of cold case investigators, there is a certain air of Slow Horses, but there are a few too many subplots — not all of them super well developed — to keep the momentum going. It also doesn’t help that, in typical Scottish fashion, it’s a pretty slow burn. Still, if you are a fan of dry murder mysteries like The Fall and Broadchurch, you could probably find enough entertainment value with Dept. Q to justify a binge session.
