The more you dig into Bait, the half-hour comedy series that he creates and stars in, the more you realize that this question is very much a jumping-off point for what it really has on its mind. This includes racial identity, the pressures of representation, ambition, immigration, and shame - all of which it explores in ways that are satirical, vulnerable and surreal. Even in moments where it risks being too high-concept for its own good, the compelling performances and genre-bending direction kept me riveted throughout. Trust when I say that this is bait (heh) worth falling for.
