As you may have gleaned from the trailers, A Spy Among Friends is incredibly dry with dense storytelling, not unlike Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I mean, it’s a British show, after all. That’s not inherently a bad thing or even a complaint, but you should already know if this type of show is for you. That aside, the acting is great, and the period touches are incredible. The constant time-hopping can make things a little confusing, and the sound mix (and accents) make it hard to understand some of the dialogue, but overall, it’s a handsome show that probably hits harder with an older crowd.
