Some parts of A Different World rush too quickly through good ideas being held together by an impressive young ensemble. Luckily, that’s mostly just during the first episode. The rest of the season settles into what I wanted from this legacy continuation: organic homage to the original series, authentic storylines for the breakthrough cast, funny story beats, the right amount of dramatic messiness, and best of all, it’s Black as hell! Each episode is more entertaining than the last, and I love how it makes its own mark on such an iconic legacy.
