Jagged Mind will leave you with an unwilling headache and a sour taste in your mouth. While the first act seems promising, presenting intriguing possibilities of where the story might go, it falls off a cliff due to an ultimately bleak tone and dull ending. Admittedly, the movie tries to do a few things differently by introducing some interesting concepts, but then abandons them when the second half of the movie rolls around. Overall, the movie is a forgettable one that lacks character development and momentum. It feels like a poor attempt at a Hallmark horror flick.

I’ll give some credit to Jagged Mind for having an interesting idea on how to explore abusive relationships and gaslighting, but the truth is the movie just isn’t very good. The acting is Lifetime-Movie-of-the-Week levels of meh, and the reveal in the third act is dumb and poorly explained. It might have worked better as an episode of an anthology series because, even at 87 minutes, it struggles to fill its runtime adequately. Plus, it just feels cheap. The only genuine kudos I’ll give is for making the central couple queer without pandering or patting itself on the back for doing so.
